What Makes Camp Evergreen
So Special?
Vision
Our vision is to be a camping ministry that sees individual lives transformed through the power of Jesus.
Mission
We exist to share the good news of Jesus Christ and to grow kids and youth spiritually, mentally, socially and physically. We seek to wholly-cultivate confidence, facilitate courage and equip leaders among our campers, guests and staff - all while having fun and using God's creation as a tool.
Values
-
Celebration!
We celebrate all that God does, all He has made and each life devoted to Him. We rejoice and we are glad in it!
(Psalm 47:1 & 118:4) -
Dependency on Jesus
Apart from Christ we can do nothing. We rely on His inerrant Word, and rest in His strength and power.
(John 15:5, Hebrews 4:12 & 2 Corinthians 12:9-10) -
Love
We are Christ’s representatives. Driven by our whole-hearted love for God, we strive to be a community that serves and loves one another.
(Matthew 22:37-39) -
Prayer
Prayer is foundational to the very existence of Camp Evergreen. We seek God continually as we listen, pray and read His Word.
(1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) -
Relational Integrity
We worship, live, work and play as a team. Our relationships are driven by love and defined by grace. We seek transparency and accountability in our discussions and decision making. We trust authority and practice mutual respect. We strive to be the same on the inside as we are on the outside.
(I John 4:7-21, Ephesians 2:8-9 & Proverbs 10:9; 11:3)
Christ-Centred
Camp Evergreen takes its Confession of Faith from the Canadian Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches.

Our History
The Alberta Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches founded Camp Evergreen in 1963. Prior to this, all camping ministries of the Conference were hosted at Southern Alberta Bible Camp and Camp Okotoks, southwest of Calgary. A number of individuals, including Peter Rempel, formed a committee to select a site and develop a program for the Conference’s young people. The first camp was held at the present site in the summer of 1963.
Since then, the camp has had seven Executive Directors and hundreds of volunteers; but more importantly, it has seen thousands of kids make lasting commitments to follow Jesus Christ.
